We Love Colors-Tights Review

I finally got a chance to test try some of the We Love Colors tights I ordered last month.  These are the nylon/lycra blend one and are $15/USD and in Charcoal.

I always look so tired in my photos..LOL of course I had just got home from work and my husband took picture of me before I changed into some comfy clothes.

These are the size c/d and though a bit long I found them very comfortable to wear.  I also wore knee high socks with them because it was the mid -20's (Celsius) in Edmonton.

For warmth if you are a normally cold person they probably wont keep you warm but for me they kept my legs fairly warm that walking a few city blocks didn't freeze me up.  They did seem slightly baggy and maybe I could have gone down a size but they didn't slip down or hang down from the crotch area so I made sure I hiked them up good and they were fine.

They probably on par with the tights at Addition-Elle BUT at a color selection of 51 choices its for sure worth a look.  Recommended hand-washing too.

Shipping to Canada is a flat rate of 12USD so I recommend either buying at least 4 pair to justify the shipping or teaming up with a friend to split the cost

Size A/B C/D E EE
Height 4'11" - 5'5" 5'5" - 6'0" 5'5" - 6'0" 5'5" - 6'0"
Weight 160 - 220 lbs. 215 - 275 lbs. 270 - 325 lbs. 320 - 375 lbs.

I also picked up a pair of their nylons ones which I'll save and review when  I wear them for a special occasion as they apparently run easily like normal nylons

How would you pair this skirt?

I'm buying this skirt on eBay
Im not really sure what to pair it with.  Its brown, blue, tan and black so I was thinking this layering pieces

And either black or brown boots.  What colour tights would go with?   or what else would YOU wear with the skirt???

Much Love & Happy Living!

Edited to Add:

I'm thinking of these heeled booties as a sometime alternate with the skirt and tall boots...this way I have more options to either dress it up or down

With either would I match the hosiery to the shoes/boots, top or skirt?

Which would you order

I'm going to place an order with Asos as they are offering free shipping right now.

But I  can't decide between this cape
or these pants

I'm not sure I can justify both though lol.

What one would you order?

A Shoe Confession

A Confession- I used to truly hate shoe shopping.  1st I have a very hard time finding my size up here in Canada and when I do they are either sold out of the cute ones or they are just plain ugly!!
I have a wonderful BFF that I've known since grade 6 and she is kind of my forwarder when I place orders with US companies that don't ship to Canada.

With the exception of my boots I bought a few months ago ALL of my current shoes are over a year old so I decided it was time to stock up ...Today I ordered everything pictured about.  I love the boots I bought so I bought another of the same pair when my 1st pair wear out.  (all shoes above totaled less thank 100$ with shipping to my friends house, good deal even after I'll have pay for shipping to me)

The above are my Christmas present.  I know it seems like a lot of shoes in one shot but believe me I probably wont be buying shoes again for another year, or two....well I hope not at least.

For all the ballet flats I picked up this from London Drugs on sale

It was on sale for $20 and holds up to 18 pair of shoes..   I've heard skinny jeans also look good with ballet flats so when its too hot for boots I'll wear the flats.

I've also finally found the brown boots I think will be really nice

While I don't normally wear a lot of brown I think it will look great with my favorite blue/teal pop colour.  Plus I love suede and these are wide calf (Sears.ca)

Brrr! Cold Weather Clothes

This post is mainly geared for those that live in very cold places during the winter.Because that is the type of place I live in and now its very cold here too.

Base Layers:  I would only wear these in -30 Celsius or colder days/nights. While I don't like being too hot I also do NOT want to underdress on certain days either

These base layers are from Land's End and go up to a 3X ...The bottoms and of the tops is also a silk blend which is really warm.  I think even WinterSilks makes plus size base layers too. Yes I am ordering some soon too.

Coats: Also while I want to look nice and stylish, honestly, I want to stay warm when I"m outside.

Also from Land's End.  I think the temperature rating on this is -25 Fahrenheit but you might want to check.  I usually dont care for down as it can make one look "poofy" which isn't a good look for me..but this doesn't look too bad and the tie at the waist kinda creates the illusion of a waist (which I for sure need)

For milder winter days I prefer a wool coat and a scarf with a hat. This year though I'm also going to invest in a nice pair of earmuff type things as I just don't have  a hat head lol

Scarves, Gloves, Keep your ears warm

Sorry I'm not trying to make this a post just about Land's End but truth be told they are one of my top "go to" places for cold weather dressing.   (the gloves pictures are silk glove liners ..a very good layer pieces especially if you wear gloves you love but aren't the best insulating)

Etc....  Dont forget to moisturize and wear lip balm either!! Alberta gets very cold and very dry winters and unless you want to end up with snakeskin that you can turn into a bag or shoes  keep your all your bases covered.  Vaseline also makes this new lotion that is one of my favorites

My favorite hand cream

And don't forget you hair either.  I like to do a deep moisturize on my hair every few weeks during the winter.

Add your favorite pair of winter boots and your set to stay warm and still look great:)

I'm sure I'm probably missing something but this was intended to be a good basics guide and hopefully you will add your own Winter Essentials to stay warm & stylish.

Later today

A post on dressing warm this Winter if you live in Canada or anywhere else that gets super cold

Tired is my name

I dressed down today for work.  Jeans and a shirt with a teal blue cardigan.I was running late so I dont even have horrid cell phone pictures to share.

Honestly though, next week I'm working 4 overnight shifts in a row so I for sure wont be doing any OOTD's. Heck if I could I'd wear yoga pants and a comfy baggy shirt followed up with tons of coffee to keep me awake:)

I was also going to buy shoes today but just came straight home after work.  I forsee a very early night to bed:)

Thank G$$ is Friday tomorrow:)

Much Love & Happy Living!!

P.S. I hope to pick up these shoes tomorrow after work

Two pair this week and hopefully two more next week.   I'm developing quite a shoe fetish:)

For Sale

Please check out the Fashion for sale tab at the top of my blog for gently worn clothes:)   I think this is way easier than listing on eBay:)

1st Day

Today was my 1st day of my new job

I am not that good at coordinating outfits for myself (though I do pretty good on Polyvore lol)  but I felt I looked ok at 6am:)

Top, Cardigan, and Wool Coat-Old Navy
Skirt-QVC.com
Tights & Belt- Addition-Elle (tights are a peacock blue)

Unfortunately my unconventional training only lasted 3 hours as their servers overheated when the power went out overnight and the Air Conditioning shut down so I was sent home.

I headed over to Winners to look around. I wanted some earmuffs but didn't see any but I did try on some things and picked up this lovely Gray top for $19.99
It will look great with some black pants or a nice skirt and its long enough to wear it belted too.  Though I was sad that their sweater leggings were too big and the cute cardigan was too small this was my great find of the week for sure:)

Have you had a great shopping find this week??

Outfit of the Day

Brrr its really cold here in Edmonton so I ventured out to the grocery store to pick up the items to make a homemade fish chowder and peppermint tea

OOTD1116

OOTD1116 by terraskye featuring black mid calf boots

This is pretty much what I wore today..I'm sans camera this week so i had to use Polyvore.  Not pictured are the leggings I wore underneath the skirt, my wool coat and scarf.   The wool coat is from last year and is while does fit its a bit snug and the arm length is a bit too short.

I also wore this over the knee socks under my boots

Since they are pretty long I cuffed them so that they folded over the tops of my boots.

I was really warm despite the fact that its curently
Or 15 degrees Fahrenheit and feels like 3 degrees...BRRRR!!!

Tights & Hosiery: A Continuing Series

Here is another great review on some socks, tights, and hosiery related items from Sock Dreams.
Following Reviews are from Deborah, one of the bloggers over at Loop-Frame Love

For Reference: Deborah is 5'6 and hovers around 185-195, carrys her weight around her midriff and thighs and is short-waisted.

1st up are the E.G. Smith Spaced Dyed Cotton tights. One Size in Moonrock (Pictured above)
(they say up to 6' & 200 lbs; cut the same as their thinner Leg Therapy Solids, which the Sock Dreams peeps say only really fit to 5'8")

In Deborah's Words:

"I was really disappointed in these. They fit me perfectly in the leg - and look how cute they are!

"Unfortunately something about the way the gusset is cut and sewn - or possibly the fact that I am shortwaisted - means that the crotch is too low and cuts into my thigh. I could put up with them, but I think they would be too uncomfortable to cycle in. Our friend Angel tried them on and they do the same thing on her, despite her being a significantly shorter size 16-18 than me. My personal solution will be to cut the legs off and hand-hem them to turn them into thigh-highs, for wearing with item #3 (see garter belt below)." (My Note: See 1st Photo Above with Deborahs Notes)

However, I think the suggested sizing on these is too generous, and you can be up to 6' or up to 200 lbs, but not both. Proceed with caution."
2nd pair of tights are the Foot Traffic Combed Cotton Tights, One Size, in Black (I *was* going to order the plus size but ended up somehow with the smaller version.)

"These fit me perfectly! Well, not quite perfectly - over the course of the day the crotch migrated south slightly on me, which would be easily fixed by pulling them back up or wearing another pair of panties or shapewear over top. I'm afflicted with a super-flat butt, so curvy girls who have more of a booty may not have this issue with them. The waistband looks in the photo above like it cuts in, but it really doesn't feel like it at all, until the end of a long day in them. The tights are super stretchy and super comfortable, and fairly opaque yet lightweight enough to work really well for fall or spring with only adding legwarmers for chilly mornings and evenings. I've done a ton of walking and cycling and furniture-moving in these since getting them, and never felt like they were restrictive."

"I actually only realized when I went back to look at the label that I'd gotten the smaller One Size instead of the Plus Size version of these tights. I'd say that they'll easily fit up to a size 18-ish, and possibly even a size 20, which is great for curvy girls in the low plus-size range as the smaller size has way more colours available."

3rd & 4th The striped and solid Extraordinary Thigh Highs & The Japanese-made super-slouchy Harajuku Tabbisocks

"The striped and solid Extraordinary Thigh Highs do go to my thighs - I have about four inches to go to my crotch - and have elasticized tops that are just a smidgen too tight for me and create an unflattering bulge above. I'll scootch them down a few inches and wear them as over-the-knee socks instead. The foot is a bit too long on my size 9 foot and really stretchy, so I think they will fit the stated shoe size range of up to size 14. They're really cute! I tried on both, but only photographed the striped ones."
"The Japanese-made super-slouchy Harajuku Tabbisocks go to three inches above my knees if I pull them up all the way. So, they're not really an option if you're a curvy lady looking for thigh-highs, but really great as over-the-knees or slouched down around your ankles. The acrylic-wool blend is really cosy and soft."
5th The Super-Long Ribbed Leg Warmers (in Charcoal, an acrylic-nylon blend)
Are indeed crazy long, but they're also crazy skinny. I could almost pull them thigh-high and still bunch them up around my ankles:  However, they wouldn't stay thigh-high on me. I'd say these will go over the knee for most of us curvy girls but not much higher.
6th Topless Industrial Net Stockings With Backseams & Suspender Clip Industrial Garter Belt
"The backseamed net stockings are definitely thigh high, and sizzling hot. Super sexy, in a retro pin-up kind of way. But not so warm for winter, unless you layered them over a coloured tight. ;-) I think they would fit calves and thighs significantly wider than mine; they're labelled 1X-2X and I ordinarily can wear XL-1X."
"The garter belt fits me perfectly, and will definitely go several sizes bigger than I am based on the stretchiness of the elastic and the length of the velcro closure on the belt. I can easily wear it on my hips instead of my waist if I wish."

Thanks for the reviews Deborah!!!
