Picking myself up

April 7th I resigned from my job.   There were a lot of factors in that decision but the main ones were  a wishy-washy employer and constant stress.  The job itself wasn't stressful but the workplace environment was.   3 of us ended up leaving the company at the same time.

This of course turned me into a bit of a hermit and homebody coupled with depression and constant migraines.

While I swore I wouldn't never "diet" again I realize that my body is screaming for help to be more healthy.  After all I'm not getting any younger and I'd rather not have my future years spent as a broken down old lady lol.

So in the regard I've committed to getting more mobile,  being more diligent in what I eat and doing things that make me happy.   I'm thinking of joining Weight Watchers Online also, not for the diet factor but for the structure it would provide me in making better choices.  

So while I'm unemployed again my goal is to get back to my happy place and love life again.

Busylady is thy name

I've been very busy and thus a bit neglectful in updating this blog. Company changes and numerous schedule re-writes are hopefully now a thing of the past and I'll have more time to at least update twice a week.

ETA: I also like the fact that my new work schedule will now allow me to get up in the morning and either walk for an hour outside or on the treadmill depending on the weather:)   

Last week I finally got the Joby Gorillapod tripod for my small camera ...Its so darn cute, was on sale and I was able to snag in blue & black heehee

I'll be testing it out tomorrow with a new outfit of the day too:)   Fingers crossed it workds out well.

Also the shoes from my last post didn't work out so back to the store they go, the Asos pants with Braces didn't work out either and I'll be posting my review of them this weekend with a sad face photo. Though unlike numerous other bloggers my issues were the opposite of theirs.

Old Navy Finds

I hit up West Edmonton Mall this morning to meet up with a friend and her son, run some hubby requested errands and do a bit of shopping

The cargo's were the last in my size on clearance in the colour i liked the best but I'm not sure if they fit right...I was trying them over tights so that may have been the problem and when I get batteries for my camera I'll get photos of me wearing it all...:) 

There were a few more tops I would have like to have picked up but they can wait until next week. I do have a photo, a very bad one of me wearing one I'll be getting .

Quick Update

I worked today and ended up with another really bad sinus headache:( I left work an hour early and came home, took some meds and was cheered up immensely by my hubby and uber snuggly kitty. 
I had a great blog post planned as I recently got a "Inspiring Blog" award that I was going to pass along but I'll get that done in the next few days.

For now I wanted to share some recent purchases with you.  I belong to this great sales community on Live Journal and have been happily doing my version of thrifting 

I really needed a suit of some sort for work meetings and this one fit the bill and was a great deal. I also loved the print dress and top :)

I bought this? IN LOVE with BRACES (Suspenders)

I forgot I ordered this and was very surprised when it showed up in the mail today.  Bear in mind please that I've been home sick all week, no makeup and generally blah in my cozy socks lol

The skirt needs to be nipped in a bit and of course some heels like these from Aldo

and maybe even a crisp white shirt with french cuffs too

But I really love the braces (suspenders)  Now it makes me wish even more I had ordered the flannel trousers with braces from Asos last month.  Now they aren't on the site anymore that I can see.  
OMG I just found the trousers and they are ON SALE too...I may try and order them next week if they are still in stock

I think I may also just buy some Suspenders from Sock Dreams to wear with some skirt...So menswear

Reining it in

Its a big shopping sales day in stores and online but I managed to be very good and aside from a stop at Future Shop for some on sale video games and a new case for my phone I have NOT bought anything on sale.

Wednesday however, I will be going to IKEA and picking up some things as my 2011 project is to turn the 2nd bedroom into a dressing room/guest bedroom. 

Some things on my wishlist to look at

Malm Dressing Table (IKEA)

Sofa Bed (IKEA)

And a mirror (IKEA)

and some wall lamps for proper lighting (IKEA)

Drapes (Top ones: Target  Bottom Ones: Jysk)

Of course I also need to solve my bike storage problem but I think in the end I'll get it all figured out with some re-arranging and purging.  

I also need a full length mirror and put my artwork up too and it should be a real haven while getting ready for work or to go out.

Outfit of the Day

This is how I imagined the outfit in my head though I may swap out the v-neck sweater for a sleeveless cardigan as my office tends to run on the hot side.   I'll also wear socks with the boots as its just how I roll.

I didn't bust my Sephora budget today because I ended up going elsewhere for polish as it wasn't cheap at Sephora.

My outfit

I think this wider belt suits me much better than the other one I had before (in previous entries) and the velvet skirt is one of the two skirts I had shortened recently.  Its slightly too short to my liking but I still like it better than a floor length one.  (New belt from Torrid, J.Jill skirt from eBay, Gray drape top from Winners)

This is the nail polish I picked up today from OPI

Its Bastille My Heart which another blogger has mentioned that she likes too:) Its a great shade of dark red and tonight I'll try and paint my nails....::fingers crossed:::
I also picked up tea and some treats to have with my tea too.  I'll watch a movie tonight and snuggle on the sofa tonight.

I love Colors

For a Future order.  I'm learning to embrace bright pops of colour! today I wore my plaid skirt (for sure laundry today tomorrow!) with bright teal tights from We Love Colors.    I think I may go down a size though as there was a lot of excess "tight" to pull up

I also got some shoes, boots and my Torrid belts in the mail so I'll try and get some photos with me wearing them up by Wednesday at the latest!!!!  Plus some other goodies hopefully heehee

I love blue:)

It wasn't too cold today so I decided to wear my short boots with my newly altered plaid skirt. The boots were 20$ plus shipping from eBay.  They are fake Ugg boots from L.L. Bean and I totally love them.   I am having a hard time figuring out what to wear with them other than skinny jeans and they probably weren't the best choice for today but I really love them and they are great on slushy/icey sidewalks.

My photographer aka hubby is out of town so this is the only shot I could get at 6am. 

Some other recent eBay finds

I think the paisley skirt will get shortened too depending on where it falls when I try it on.  Now to find a nice corduroy skirt or pants:)

Bits and Bobbins

I have today off YAYYYY so i thought it would be time for a nice, long and much overdue blog entry.
1st some new things

plus some Suede mid-calf ugg type boots from LL Bean.  All from eBay and either new or new to me in excellent condition. 

Also, remember this skirt:

I really like the plaid skirt and the black velvet one above but silly me!! I didn't pay attention to the length measurements in the item description and I think they are way too long on me.  So this morning I took both to the tailor just across the street from me and am having them shortened to just above the knee....I pick them up on Saturday.  I forgot to ask the tailor to save the leftover plaid fabric for DIY projects but hopefully she will anyways. 


I also got a gorgeous teal/jade dress and a gray top but I'll get pictures of them another time to blog about.  Both are new to me are in excellent condition and quite the deal too. 

Another impulse eBay purchase were these fleece lined tights

I wont say what I paid for shipping for three pair because you would totally give me hell for it but all I can say is Buyer Beware! However they were the only place I could truly plus size winter tights.  I got a pair in black, gray and navy blue.

The package says they will fit up to 250lbs and they probably will but I will say that they will for sure fit better if you are either under 5'8, way less than 250lbs or a combination of both.  I keep having to hitch them up every few hours which is only slightly annoying but tedious nonetheless. 
I wore a pair yesterday in -15 weather with a skirt and then again today in -10-ish weather. My legs were warm but not super warm. I may consider pair them with silk long underwear in anything colder than -20.  They are nice and thick though. 
They also make footless tights so I may buy a pair while paying attention the to high shipping better next time lol

Upcoming Post

I apologize that I haven't been blogging lately. My new job,plus the holidays, plus my husband working out of town pretty much every week has had me frazzled. 

I am off on Wednesday and have a nice long post planned, including the arrival of some new and new to me clothes and a plus size fleece line tights review:)  

I also have some clothes shopping trips planned and look! A nifty new hat:)

Tired is my name

I dressed down today for work.  Jeans and a shirt with a teal blue cardigan.I was running late so I dont even have horrid cell phone pictures to share.

Honestly though, next week I'm working 4 overnight shifts in a row so I for sure wont be doing any OOTD's. Heck if I could I'd wear yoga pants and a comfy baggy shirt followed up with tons of coffee to keep me awake:)

I was also going to buy shoes today but just came straight home after work.  I forsee a very early night to bed:)
